Job Summary
Manage and lead operations for three alcohol retail shops, overseeing procurement, staff, sales strategies, and compliance while maintaining strong communication with Tokyo HQ in Japanese.
Responsibilities
- Source and procure sake and spirit products for three alcohol shops located in shopping malls to maintain optimal stock levels
- Manage overall store operations including opening and closing procedures, ensuring a clean, organized, and inviting store environment
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff to foster a positive work environment and enhance team performance
- Handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems accurately, preparing financial reports for management review
- Develop and implement sales strategies, promotions, and events to increase sales and customer engagement
- Apply strong knowledge of sake and spirits, including styles, regions, and tasting notes, to manage product assortment and supplier negotiations
- Conduct business negotiations with local and foreign suppliers to secure favorable terms and product availability
- Attend business and operations meetings with mall and store management to align on goals and compliance
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selections and resolving inquiries and complaints effectively
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and licensing requirements for alcohol retail operations
- Communicate regularly with Tokyo HQ in Japanese, preparing and delivering reports on sales, inventory, and key performance indicators via email, phone, and meetings
Required competencies and certifications
- Ability to read, speak, and write fluently in Japanese to prepare written reports and communicate with Tokyo HQ
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Minimum A Level education
- Over 10 years of work experience in the Food & Beverage industry with demonstrated leadership in store operations and team management
- Customer-centric mindset with experience contributing to sales goals
