Job Description

COMPANY'S BRIEF INTRODUCTION

NYK Bulkship (Asia) Pte. Ltd. was established in 1975 and is wholly-owned by NYK Line headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Main activity is to own and operate vessels of international trade, as well as to develop businesses around energy transportation and supply chain solutions, including, but not limited to, the transportation of LNG, hydrogen and its derivatives, as well as the management of captured CO2. We also provide shipping and sales services related to NYK Line.

We are currently recruiting a Manager to join our Energy Transportation and Supply Chain Solutions Division. The candidate must be an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated individual with real passion for the above segments, and possess experience in owning, managing, chartering and operating LNG tankers.

The candidate is required to be bilingual in both English and Japanese language, with a proficiency level equivalent to JPLT N1 of the Japanese proficiency test in listening, speaking, reading and writing to communicate with Japanese clients and Tokyo HQ.

JOB OUTLINE

Candidate is also responsible to ensure that the daily business activities are in compliance with the NYK Group Credo and business policies. He/she reports to the Director, (Deputy) General Manager. He/she must ensure timely and accurate response to customer's request and liaise with each stakeholder (internal/external) for smooth coordination for all transactions.

Minimum experience: 8 years in shipping industries including
Minimum 5 years in commercial LNG shipping (including managing and operating LNG tankers).
Working days: Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work on weekends when required for travel needs.
Working hours: 9.00am - 5.30pm
Qualifications: Diploma / Degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, International Relations or relevant discipline, Maritime Studies or related field
Salary: S$11,000 to S$22,000 depending on experience

Your duties essential for the job:

. Support to develop and expand business opportunities for NYK Group's Energy Division in Singapore and Asia/Oceania region.

. Represent NYK Group's Energy Division and cultivate strong business relationships with both existing and prospective clients in Singapore and Asia/Oceania region.

. Support to engage with external and internal stakeholders and coordinate each project. Providing guidance, support and mentorship to NYK Group's local staff in countries in Asia/Oceania region, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment to achieve business objectives.

. Collect and analyze intelligence on energy policies and situations in Asia/Oceania region, and regularly report findings to relevant stakeholders including NYK Group's managers and NYK Line Tokyo HQ.

. Fulfill any additional or ad hoc duties as required to meet the evolving needs of the business.

Basic requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

. Degree or Diploma in Law, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.

. Extensive experience in vessel operations, chartering, and commercial ship management, including tanker and LNG shipping operations.

. Strong experience in negotiating LNG vessel time charter agreements, ship management contracts, and shipbuilding contracts.

. Sound understanding of the LNG supply chain and related commercial activities.

. Knowledge and practical experience in ship financing, investment evaluation, and cashflow analysis.

. Proven experience managing vessel tender processes or maritime projects, including LNG carrier projects.

. Familiarity with marine insurance practices and risk management principles.

. Basic understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.

Skills and Competencies

. Proficiency in both English and Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) is required to effectively communicate, negotiate, review contractual documents, and collaborate with Japanese-speaking customers, business partners, shipowners, and stakeholders in Japan and other international markets where Japanese is the primary business language.

. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

. High attention to detail and accuracy in work.

. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

. Positive attitude with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with a collaborative and transparent working style.
