OVERVIEW
The Manager (Learning, Outreach & Research) at the Learning and Outreach Department at National Gallery Singapore will support multiple research and insights projects which may include institutional, departmental research, evaluation projects and externally funded projects to drive pedagogical innovation and evidence-based strategies. Reporting to the Deputy Director (Learning & Outreach), the Manager (Learning, Outreach & Research) will be supporting DD/Learning and Outreach in educational initiatives which include data collection and analysis for including, but not limited to, institutional education and social research, insight studies, collaborate and contribute to discussions on education strategy and research direction. The learning analyst will also design and facilitate interviews, focus groups and stakeholder discussions to gather research data and align stakeholders around institutional education research objectives.
The Manager (Learning, Outreach & Research) will also support the delivery of learning and outreach initiatives to nurture young audiences with visual arts appreciation and increase public familiarity with the Gallery's learning and social impacts, identity, mission, and services, with the goal of bringing non-traditional museum going audiences into the Gallery and retain interest for repeat visitors. This role has a strong collaboration and data-driven focus, which involves working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful art experiences for audiences of different demographics in and beyond the Gallery. This role requires an agility in both working with research activities and delivering programme initiatives to enhance learning, social outcomes and impacts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to the below):
- Design and execute data collection and analyses approaches for institutional and pedagogical research projects including, but not limited to, in relation to the Gallery's Learning and Outreach frameworks and programmes.
- Oversee, coordinate projects such as research, insight studies and ensure methodological and stakeholder alignment while ensuring timely progression.
- Design and facilitate dace-to-face interviews and/or focus groups and stakeholder discussions to gather data and insights, align stakeholders around research objectives.
- Engage with report presentations and manage project-related administrative and procurement work.
- Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders including artists, educators, members of the public, government agencies, and corporates to organize studies related activities and/or programmes and student showcases.
- Implement the Gallery's learning, research and outreach programmes to take art experiences within and beyond the physical museum walls and into schools, with a vision to create awareness, enhance accessibility and develop meaningful connections between audiences who may be new to art and the Gallery, its exhibitions and collection.
- Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in any of the relevant fields such as Social Science, Data Analytics, Education, Mathematics, Statistics and Information Sciences, Technology, Arts and Cultural.
- Proven experience in project administration and research project management.
- Demonstrated ability on research methodologies.
- Experience conducting or supporting research in educational environment(preferred).
- Hands-on experience with quantitative and qualitative research, including familiarity with statistical analysis and data presentation tools.
- Strong data storytelling skills (eg. translating insights into clear narratives and visuals).
- Experience managing or supporting research and development of reports for funded projects and/or research grants.
- Demonstrated interest in research related to education, arts and social sciences.
- Must possess cultural sensitivity and understanding for diverse stakeholders and audiences.
- Able to perform analysis using statistical software.
- Demonstrated ability to implement programmes that align with the mission and goals of the museum.
- A proactive team player who is resourceful, people-oriented, meticulous, hands-on and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively and deliver quality outcomes within tight timelines and budget.
- Demonstrated skills in managing a range of administrative processes including issuing and managing schedules, contracts, financials, and logistics.
- Possess positive attitude and excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to a diverse range of stakeholders.
