The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Manager, Lab Operations to manage the robotics laboratories operations and activities. The candidate would be responsible for providing efficient management, technical and administrative support for the laboratory's teaching and research activities and to oversee the safety standards in the laboratories in compliance with ISO 45001 standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and oversee the operation of the laboratories in supporting the teaching and research activities.
Manage and allocate manpower resources to meet operational needs.
Budgetary planning for the laboratories and ensure procurement operations comply with the University's financial policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
Providing teaching support for laboratory experiments and projects.
Manage and maintain the equipment, facilities and engineering services.
Manage and support laboratory outreach activities and events.
Conduct safety risk assessments for all equipment and processes.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing/Computer Engineering.
At least 10 years of relevant experience, with 5 years experience in technical support role, ideally in mechatronics, motion control and robotics systems.
Knowledge of fundamental manufacturing/assembly processes.
Knowledge of computer control systems and software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Good interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a university environment.
Highly motivated and customers oriented.
Good management and leadership skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of workplace safety including ISO45001.
