Job Description

Job Description:

  • Collect and check financial data from group companies and prepare a consolidated trial balance by quarter
  • Prepare consolidation journal entries (e.g. elimination of investment and equity, accounting for equity method, elimination of intercompany transactions, unrealised profit)
  • Prepare quarterly consolidated reporting package and its supporting documents (e.g., account details for fixed assets, securities, OCI)
  • Respond to queries from HQ regarding the consolidation package
  • Prepare consolidated budgets and a regular update of performance forecasts
  • Prepare the monthly cash and loan report
  • Prepare a full set of accounts, a monthly financial statement and an analysis to HQ.
  • Prepare intercompany transactions.
  • Review and improve internal control to ensure compliance with IFRS and corporate requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, tax consultants for annual audit, tax return, transfer pricing, and GST filing.
  • Liaise with bankers for foreign currency and cash flow management.
  • Provide coaching and training to the team members.
  • Provide support to management and members of the organisation in daily operations.
  • Close credit monitoring for accounts receivable.
  • Perform other general assignments relating to financing, tax practice, legal affairs, personnel affairs, and general affairs office work.

Requirements:

  • Recognised degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, etc.).
  • The Japan Construction Accountant License, Grade 1 holder or holder of a similar grade and/or level license, or those with equivalent knowledge and experience required thereunder, preferred.
  • The Japan Business Law Examination, Grade 2 holder or holder of a similar grade and or level license, or those with equivalent knowledge and experience required thereunder, preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in a senior capacity within construction and or real estate firms is required. Experience working in Japan is advantageous, as the role includes reporting to headquarters.
  • As some board members and the shareholders of the company are based in the headquarters in Japan, Japanese language skills and knowledge at levels of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level N1 a must at a minimum to discuss and do business, as well as to prepare reports as may be required by the management,board or shareholder of the company. Similar English skills and knowledge preferred.
  • Analytical with good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure with a tight reporting deadline.
  • Good understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance and accounting principles.
