About the Function
UOB's AI & Data Risk Governance & Control is a centralized function under Group Risk Management dedicated to set out a Line 2 operating capability to oversee enterprise-wide AI and data risks with a mandate to ensure AI models, systems and processes in the Bank are secure, fair, explainable, and well-governed throughout their lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
This role is a key member of the Data Stewardship and Enforcements team, responsible for supporting the execution of data stewardship and data governance activities. In this role, you will support the monitoring, coordination and tracking of data governance and data quality initiatives, working closely with Business Units, Support Units and Technology teams. You will assist in maintaining governance processes, monitoring dashboards, tracking issues and remediation progress, and helping to embed data governance practices into daytoday business and data operations.
Your Main Responsibilities Are To
- Actively support the UOB Group-wide Data Governance strategy and the adoption of the data governance framework and policy, incorporating best practices and industry standards across different jurisdictions where the Bank operates
- Monitor data quality dashboards and identify exceptions or issues requiring followup
- Log, track and manage data quality issues and remediation actions in JIRA (or equivalent tracking tools)
- Monitor and follow up on remediation progress with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely closure of issues
- Support coordination with Business Units, Technology teams and risk partners on data quality remediation activities
- Provide execution and coordination support for data governance processes, including Stewardship annual reviews and metadata updates
- Support Bank-wide Key Risk and Control Self-Assessment initiatives to embed data governance practices into existing enterprise-wide policies and processes
- Coordinate with System Data Stewards on the submission, tracking and followup of system control summaries, ensuring completeness and timeliness of inputs
- Perform maintenance activities in the Metadata Management Tool, including updates and validations, and manage the associated processes to ensure changes are accurately reflected in the system
- Responsible for providing logistical and administrative support for stakeholder meetings (e.g. agenda preparation, minutes, action tracking)
- Maintain and update documentation such as process flows, procedures and governance artefacts in line with agreed standards
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities from a coordination and validation perspective (e.g. test tracking, evidence collation)
- Assist with adhoc data governance and data quality initiatives as required
Job Requirements
- Background in data governance, data quality, risk management, technology or business operations, with 25 years of relevant working experience in the banking or financial services industry
- Working knowledge of data governance and data quality concepts, with exposure to industry practices and regulatory expectations
- Basic understanding of risk management frameworks and related disciplines such as risk and control selfassessment
- Working knowledge of data management disciplines, such as data quality and metadata management; exposure to data privacy and protection concepts is an advantage
- Experience using issue tracking or workflow tools (e.g. JIRA or equivalent) and dashboards for monitoring and reporting purposes
- Good coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders across Business Units, Technology and risk teams
- Detailoriented team player with a proactive and disciplined approach to tracking actions and followups
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to document processes, prepare basic reports, and support stakeholder discussions
- Experience in maintaining documentation such as process flows, procedures and governance artefacts is an advantage
