Job Description

1. Leadership and Department Management

Lead and manage the Children, Youth and Family Department to ensure the achievement of organizational goals and service outcomes.

Develop departmental strategies, annual work plans, budgets, and performance indicators.

Ensure services and programmes are aligned with organizational mission, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor service effectiveness and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.

2. Financial Assistance Assessment and Case Management

Oversee and conduct assessments for Financial Assistance and Milk & Diapers Assistance applications for individuals and families in need.

Ensure assessments are conducted in a fair, timely, and accountable manner according to established guidelines.

Provide consultation and guidance to staff on complex cases and intervention strategies.

Monitor service standards, documentation quality, and compliance with funding and reporting requirements.

3. School Social Work Services

Provide leadership and oversight for school social work programmes and interventions.

Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of school social work programmes and interventions, including selected group work and preventive programmes where appropriate.

Ensure effective group work, and preventive programmes for students and their families.

Collaborate with schools to address attendance, behavioural, emotional, social, and family-related concerns affecting students.

Monitor programme outcomes and service impact within educational settings.

4. Programme Development and Oversight

Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programmes for children, youths, and families.

Identify emerging community needs and develop evidence-informed interventions and services.

Oversee programme budgets, resource allocation, risk management, and performance reporting.

Ensure programmes achieve intended outcomes and meet stakeholder expectations.

5. Strategic Planning and Service Development

Develop and execute departmental plans aligned with organizational strategic objectives.

Conduct needs assessments, environmental scans, and service reviews to identify gaps and opportunities.

Lead service innovation initiatives and enhance programme effectiveness through data-driven decision-making.

Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations for senior management, funders, and stakeholders.

6. Staff Supervision and Professional Development

Provide supervision to staff.

Conduct regular performance reviews and support staff development and capability building.

Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Ensure staff adherence to professional ethics, organizational policies, and best practices.

7. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Management

Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, government agencies, community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

Represent the organization at meetings, networking platforms, and inter-agency collaborations.

Facilitate coordinated service delivery and integrated support for children, youths, and families.

Develop strategic partnerships to strengthen community resources and service accessibility.

8. Governance, Compliance and Reporting

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding requirements, and relevant legislation.

Oversee data collection, outcome measurement, programme audits, and reporting processes.

Manage departmental budgets and ensure prudent use of resources.

Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and service delivery risks.

Requirements:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Registered Social Worker (where applicable) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in social service setting.
  • Strong leadership, people management, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Passionate to impact the lives of underprivileged children and youth.
  • Comfortable with working with families of diverse backgrounds
  • Comfortable with working closely with volunteers to achieve programme objectives.
