Job Description

What The Role Is

The Strategic Communications team drives the strategic narrative and content for NYC initiatives. We develop integrated communications strategies to increase mindshare of NYC and its divisions and engage youths and stakeholders through content that resonates with our target audiences. As the amplifiers for NYC, we plan and manage the public relations, marketing and digital engagement efforts to effectively communicate NYC's vision and outcomes.

This is a one-year contract role with the Strategic Communications department.

What You Will Be Working On

As Manager / Assistant Manager for Strategic Communications, you will bring fresh youth perspectives to an experienced team, sharing insights on current youth trends while gaining hands-on experience in strategic communications. You will work across various platforms and stakeholders, contributing to NYC's mission of youth engagement and empowerment.

You may be assigned to any one or two of the key strategic communications initiatives, including:

  • Media Relations: Managing media enquiries and drafting media materials for key NYC events and launches including onsite media facilitation and organising press briefings. Develop story pitches to secure sustained media coverage.
  • Digital Communications: Support corporate social media strategy, oversee community management, website content management and marketing campaigns to amplify key NYC initiatives, and cross-platform marketing initiatives.
  • Content Creation: Develop creative copies and innovative social media content for Youthopia's digital channels (TikTok and Instagram), guide youth content contributors, and drive content campaigns targeting diverse youth audiences. You may also be required to design and produce content for Electronic Direct Mails (EDMs) such as the bi-monthly NYC newsletter.
  • Marketing and Branding: Work with media agencies to develop creative assets, collaborate with media partners and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) while ensuring synergy across paid and owned communication efforts.
  • On-ground activations: Support the planning and execution of roadshows and outreach events, including liaising with schools and partners to coordinate participation, managing manpower deployment, and overseeing logistical arrangements to ensure smooth event operations. Assist in the sourcing and procuring of collateral that appeal to the youths, and management of collateral inventory.

What We Are Looking For

  • Good understanding of media consumption habits of youths including digital media trends on mainstream and social media platforms.
  • Ability to craft and edit content for digital and social channels that resonate with youths.
  • Graphic design capabilities and photo/video editing skills, with an eye for visuals and creative content.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to produce media materials and excellent command of written and spoken English. Strength in vernacular languages will be advantageous.
  • Experience in media data analytics and website management will be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills. A team player with good interpersonal skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Good project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous with strong attention to detail. Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
