Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, highly committed, and results-driven Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and controlling all construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with the required quality standards.

The Construction Manager will lead project teams, manage subcontractors and suppliers, monitor project progress, enforce safety regulations, and ensure effective communication among all stakeholders. This role requires a hardworking individual who is prepared to work in a demanding environment, meet tight deadlines, and work weekends, public holidays, and extended hours whenever project requirements dictate.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Management

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through project completion.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, work plans, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction methodologies.
  • Establish project milestones and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordinate project activities to minimize delays and disruptions.
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Site Supervision and Operations

  • Manage daily construction site operations and activities.
  • Supervise site engineers, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and workers.
  • Ensure all construction works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify progress and compliance.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues that arise during construction.
  • Monitor productivity and implement corrective actions when required.

Budget and Cost Control

  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures.
  • Review project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor, materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • Evaluate and approve subcontractor claims and supplier invoices.
  • Prepare cost reports and provide financial updates to management.
  • Minimize project cost overruns through effective planning and control.

Contract Administration

  • Administer project contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Manage project correspondence, documentation, and contract records.
  • Review variation orders and negotiate contract modifications when necessary.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet contractual requirements.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project sites.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and toolbox meetings.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to safety procedures and site regulations.
  • Maintain environmental compliance and sustainable construction practices.

Quality Assurance and Control

  • Implement quality control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Coordinate inspections and testing activities.
  • Identify and rectify quality issues promptly.
  • Ensure project handover documentation is complete and accurate.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
  • Coordinate activities among consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all project participants.
  • Address client concerns and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Resource and Workforce Management

  • Plan manpower requirements and workforce deployment.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise site personnel where necessary.
  • Monitor employee performance and productivity.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet project schedules.
  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve project goals.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare detailed project reports, progress reports, and management updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, costs, schedules, and site conditions.
  • Track key performance indicators and project milestones.
  • Submit reports to senior management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with company procedures.

Problem Solving and Risk Management

  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve construction-related challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • Anticipate potential delays and implement recovery plans.
  • Make informed decisions under pressure to maintain project progress.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of project management processes.

Experience

  • Minimum 10-15years of relevant construction management experience.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project planning, and site management.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
