Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Management Trainee to join our Container Depot operations team. The ideal candidate will gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in depot processes, container handling, yard planning, inventory control, and customer coordination. This role is designed to build future leaders in depot and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and support day-to-day container depot operations, including receiving and dispatching, repair and maintenance and surveying and inspection of containers.
- Assist in yard planning, ensuring optimal space utilisation and safe container movement.
- Monitor and update container inventory using depot/container management systems.
- Coordinate with operations, repair teams, transporters, surveyors, and shipping lines for smooth workflow.
- Verify and maintain accurate documentation, including inbound/outbound reports, gate passes, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Participate in safety compliance, ensuring operational adherence to depot and industry standards.
- Analyse operational data and prepare routine operational reports.
- Identify process gaps and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce turnaround time.
- Provide support in customer service by addressing queries related to container availability, condition, and movement.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in any field (Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields is an added advantage).
- Strong interest in logistics, container management, and supply chain operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and any depot management software is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced yard/operations environment and work under pressure.
- Good time management skills and attention to detail.
- Good team player with position work attitude.
- Must be able to climb up to containers for inspection.
Working Conditions:
- 5.5 Days work week
- This role will require working in an outdoor environment
- This role may be required to work late, on weekends and/or holiday based on operational needs.
- This role will require a 4-year contract (mandatory).
- This role may be subject to overseas posting upon successful completion of training.
