Overview
The
Maintenance Assistant Lead role is responsible for handling maintenance planning and execution for complete Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities and Facilities). Candidate will manage the Repair and Maintenance budget for Engineering department by close coordination with the group. Driving cost optimization and productivity initiatives for Engineering department.
Responsible for the production line from maintenance perspective and training staff to develop them and achieve the annual operation plan.
Responsibilities
What you will be responsible for:
- Supervise & lead shift-based maintenance technicians to ensure reliable operations of all production equipment.
- Responsible for maintenance & reliability of all production & utilities equipment, building and site infrastructure, in accordance with SFA, FDA, GMP, AIBI & EHS requirements. Manage maintenance team to carry out all maintenance activities in compliance with site policies, maintenance procedures and government legislation within stipulated timeline.
- Champion safety at place, driving maintenance and utilities team to apply maintenance procedures and comply with EHS & GMP requirements.
- Drive the troubleshooting of machinery and equipment issues in the production areas, conduct RCA, drive on the investigation and rectification of issues promptly, ensuring follow-up / preventive measures are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor the performance of plant equipment, recommend appropriate modifications and provide innovative ideas on any improvement projects.
- Lead and provide guidance & support to Maintenance Planner on planning and scheduling of maintenance activities in SAP PM, as well as spare parts management.
- Lead, provide guidance & support to Utilities & Facilities Lead to maintain the reliability of all utilities equipment, building and site infrastructure, in accordance with SFA, FDA, GMP, AIBI & EHS requirements.
- Manage the R&M budget for equipment maintenance and deliver cost savings through optimization of maintenance frequencies for outsourced maintenance contracts, proper evaluation of external services & spare parts needs, competitive bidding, and cost negotiations in collaboration with procurement.
- Maintain annual service contract with equipment manufacturers / contractors for production equipment like Bulk Bag Loader, Salts Weighers & Fillers, process pumps & tanks, Scanimas, Homogenizers, Liquids Fillers, palletizer robots & conveyors, Checkweighers, Flow, Pressure Sensors etc.
- Vendor / Contractor management & Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations to ensure cost effective, efficient and reliable maintenance services for utilities equipment maintenance contracts.
- Onsite contractor management including issuance of work permits to ensure all equipment maintenance activities carried out by contractors are compliant to site EHS & GMP requirements. Also ensure high quality of workmanship and service by contractors.
- Drive regular reviews of maintenance materials & spare parts needs to ensure optimal spare parts inventory
- Develop team skills and capabilities by implementing effective training plan and coaching new team members.
- Ensure maintenance documents and drawings, including procedures, service reports, PM records etc. are updated and kept up to date in Teams / approved folders or in SAP.
- Participate in EHS & GMP inspection for the site and close out any observation / actions. Ensure team follow-up on closure of any near miss / safety observations, GMP inspection findings on site.
- Lead the implementation of assigned plant Capex project as well as support project, automation or process engineers on equipment or facilities troubleshooting / modification / upgrade initiatives or projects, as requested.
- Any other ad hoc projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you will need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronic / Mechanical Engineering
- At least 3 years relevant experience gained in a similar manufacturing environment. Especially in Food / pharma industry would be preferred.
- Prior knowledge/experience in GMP and lean manufacturing principles including 5s & RCA would be preferable.
- Good communication skills combined with a flexible, team orientated and can do approach.
- Computer literate with strong organizational /administration skills.
- Track records include experience in troubleshooting; problem solving and focus on equipment improvement.
- Able to lead, manage and motivate a team of technicians in a high pace manufacturing environment.
- Capable of working well with peers and fellow colleagues while maintaining good relationships among the team. With good teamwork spirit.
- Good Mechanical technical / equipment knowledge (e.g. Bearings, food grade Oil & Greasing, conveyors, Maintenance of valves, pumps, Gaskets etc.).
- Knowledge and experience of trouble shooting electrical and control equipment like motors, VFDs, PLCs, electrical panels, relays, contactors, Level, temperature, pressure, weight, flow, proximity sensors and switches would be preferred.
- Understanding of pneumatic system and with electrical control knowledge. Able to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, P&IDs and basic mechanical / parts drawings and manufacturer manuals.
- Understand EHS requirements like Machine Guarding, LOTO, Permit to Work, Work at height, Hot work, Ex Ratings, hazardous area classification and etc.
