The Role:
This position is to work for a Senior Portfolio Manager within our Singapore Office with over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. His team manages a global macro strategy with exposures in all liquid asset classes across all regions. The team is looking for a generalist to capture opportunities in Asia equities.
Research & Analysis
- Form macroeconomic views by analyzing company earnings, guidance, and other microeconomic data
- Conduct in-depth fundamental analysis of companies within key Asian markets (China, Korea, Japan, India), with a focus on high-growth opportunities across multiple sectors, including technology, consumer goods, financials, and natural resources.
- Perform detailed financial modeling, valuation, and risk analysis for individual stocks and sector themes.
- Identify and evaluate market dynamics, economic trends, and political factors that impact investment opportunities
Idea Generation
- Helps portfolio managers to express macro views and trades via equity indices, baskets and single stock recommendations
- Develop and present both single stock investment ideas and thematic sector/regional strategies based on rigorous fundamental and quantitative analysis.
- Provide clear, actionable recommendations to the portfolio management team, supported by comprehensive analysis and defined risk/return parameters.
- Track and monitor investments in real-time, adjusting investment theses based on evolving market conditions and company performance.
Market Monitoring
- Maintain a strong network of contacts in emerging markets to gather insights and validate investment ideas.
- Keep abreast of geopolitical developments, economic policy changes, and sectoral shifts that could influence investment decisions in emerging markets.
- Regularly review market conditions and sector trends to adjust positioning and investment recommendations accordingly.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with portfolio managers to ensure alignment of ideas and strategies with overall fund objectives.
- Prepare and deliver detailed research reports, presentations, and verbal updates to portfolio managers and senior stakeholders, with an emphasis on clear, data-driven insights.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss ideas, performance, and market outlook.
Requirements:
- 5 10 years experience as an equity analyst, desk strategist or similar role in financial markets.
- Strong knowledge of equities and macroeconomic fundamentals in a few main Asian markets such as China, Japan, Korea, India with broad sector coverage
- Proven ability to analyse company news, economic releases, and political developments with speed and precision.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex developments into clear, actionable insights.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
