A Machinery Mechanic inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment to ensure production lines run efficiently
. They are responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, replacing defective parts, and ensuring all heavy machinery meets strict health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting: Observe and test machinery in operation to diagnose root causes of mechanical malfunctions.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled servicing (such as lubrication, part replacement, and cleaning) to prevent unexpected equipment downtime.
- Repairs: Dismantle devices, replace broken components, and reassemble machines using hand and power tools.
- Documentation: Keep accurate logs of maintenance activities, parts used, and repair times.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety rules, utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean workspace.
Essential Requirements
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using diagnostic equipment, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, and power tools.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to lift heavy objects (typically up to 50 lbs), stand, bend, and work in cramped or physically demanding industrial conditions.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to quickly read technical manuals, interpret blueprints, and solve unexpected equipment failures.
