Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Machinery Engineer to support plant operations through technical advisory, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement for critical rotating equipment at a major refinery/petrochemical site on Jurong Island, Singapore.
This role sits within the Engineering function supporting Operations and focuses on engineering analysis and recommendations, rather than hands-on maintenance execution.
The successful candidate will act as a key interface between engineering and operations, ensuring equipment performance, integrity, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide machinery engineering support to operations, including troubleshooting equipment issues and identifying root causes of failures
- Evaluate and review engineering work performed by contractors and third parties to ensure compliance with company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Perform and lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and contribute to reliability improvement initiatives (e.g. bad actor programmes)
- Deliver technical recommendations and data-driven insights to improve equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance
- Serve as the engineering focal point for rotating equipment, supporting operations teams on day-to-day technical queries
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, instrumentation, fixed equipment) to resolve technical issues
- Review and comment on engineering documents, drawings, and technical submissions
- Identify and manage deviations from technical standards and ensure adherence to company procedures
- Support long-term planning activities, including Asset Management Plans (AMP), turnarounds, and technology improvements
- Promote safe, compliant, and efficient engineering practices in line with site safety standards
Technical Scope
- Rotating equipment including:
- Gas & steam turbines (e.g. GE Frame units, MAN turbines)
- Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors (incl. dry gas seals)
- Pumps (single and multistage centrifugal)
- Gearboxes and auxiliary systems
Focus areas include:
- Engineering analysis & troubleshooting
- Failure diagnosis and reliability improvement
- Technical advisory (non-execution role)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Typically 10–15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within refinery, petrochemical, or chemical plant environments
- Strong background in machinery engineering, troubleshooting, and reliability engineering
- Proven experience in RCFA, maintenance strategy, and reliability programmes
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and equipment specifications
- Experience with SAP PM / CMMS systems is preferred
- Exposure to turnaround planning and asset lifecycle management is advantageous

Contract Details
- Duration: 1 year (renewable)
- Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
- Location: Jurong Island, Singapore
