Job Summary
A Machine Tool Operator sets up, operates, and maintains production machinery to produce precision parts per blueprints and quality standards while ensuring safety and efficiency in the workflow.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate, configure, and operate CNC machines, lathes, or mills to complete production cycles accurately
- Measure finished parts using precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify conformance to specifications
- Perform routine troubleshooting, cleaning, lubrication, and safety inspections to maintain machine functionality and safety
- Monitor machine settings including speed, temperature, and pressure, adjusting as needed to sustain product quality and production output
- Record production data, material usage, and machine downtime accurately for operational tracking
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to guide machining processes
- Apply basic mathematics to calculate measurements and adjustments during production
- Stand for extended periods and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds to support production activities
Required competencies and certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Technical training or certifications related to machine operation or manufacturing
- 1-2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or metal machining environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical systems understanding
