Our client, a prestigious Japanese financial institution, is seeking an experienced M&A Specialist (Japanese Speaking) to join their Investment Banking Division. This role involves providing M&A advisory services, including assisting Japanese companies with international market entry, management integration and alliances, core business fortification, non-core business spin-offs, business succession, and capital policy initiatives.
Reporting to: General Manager and Deputy General Manager
Responsibilities
- Support the entire M&A process, from origination to execution, ensuring effective management of mergers and acquisitions.
- Provide strategic advice with a focus on long-term outcomes and the creation of social value.
- Research and prepare detailed presentation materials for M&A deal origination and execution, including industry analysis and market research.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders involved in M&A transactions, such as investment bankers, legal and financial professionals, clients, and target companies.
- Conducted market research on M&A targets and developed and maintained a network of deal sources, including investment banks, private equity firms, and potential sellers.
Requirements & Preferences
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in M&A or corporate finance, with a proven track record in managing end-to-end M&A processes, including valuation and financial due diligence.
- Experience in M&A advisory firms or financial institutions, with at least 3 years in each relevant position.
- Fluency in both English and Japanese (Minimum JLPT N1) in listening, speaking and writing is essential for effective communication with counterparts and headquarters.
- Proficiency in understanding financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated, with the capability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Graduation from a recognized university or possession of an MBA is preferred.
- Familiarity with the transaction life cycle on both the buy-side and sell-side is advantageous.
