Supporting Innovation in Singapore's Public Bus Fleet

What the role is about:

As Deputy/Assistant Manager, Bus Technology, you will play a pivotal supporting role in transforming Singapore's public bus fleet through identifying and incorporating cutting-edge bus technology in our bus procurement exercises that directly enhances safety, improves the working experience of our Bus Captains, and enhances the commuting experience for millions of Singaporeans. Working under the guidance of the Manager, you will contribute to evaluating and implementing new technologies such as advanced camera and collision warning systems that provide crucial safety alerts, and driver assistance technologies that detect fatigue and stress during shifts.

With Singapore's ambitious transition to electric buses, you'll also be at the forefront of battery technology and advanced monitoring systems, supporting the evaluation of next-generation battery solutions and develop predictive monitoring framework, including analysis of thermal management patterns and degradation indicators etc. As we are introducing a significant number of electric buses on our roads, your role becomes very important in ensuring the safety and reliability of electric bus battery systems across Singapore's public transport network. This role also presents the exciting opportunity to support the management of autonomous vehicle (AV) buses as Singapore pioneers the future of public transport.

Working at the intersection of innovation and practical application, you will support technology evaluation initiatives, assist in emerging technology trials, and help implement solutions that keep Singapore's public transport system at the global forefront of technological advancement.

What You Will Be Working On:

As the Deputy/Assistant Manager, Bus Technology, you will support innovative technology initiatives and contribute to the advancement of Singapore's public bus fleet through diverse responsibilities, including:

Support Emerging Technology Research: Assist in monitoring emerging bus technologies and industry trends by conducting research, compiling reports, and supporting the evaluation of innovative solutions that could enhance fleet performance and passenger experience.

Assist Technology Trials and Collaboration: Support collaboration with vendors, internal teams, and public transport operators by coordinating technology trials, assisting with data collection activities, and contributing to performance monitoring under senior guidance.

Support Data Analysis and Evaluation: Assist in analysing and evaluating collected performance data to support feasibility assessments for implementing new technologies across the fleet, contributing to evidence-based decision-making processes.

Assist Electric Bus Technology Development: Support the development of condition monitoring systems and predictive maintenance strategies for electric bus traction batteries by assisting with data collection, basic analysis, and technology integration activities.

Support Autonomous Vehicle Platform Development: Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) bus platform by assisting with project coordination, documentation, and supporting technical activities.

Assist Pre-Delivery Inspections: Support pre-delivery inspections of bus technologies and systems in accordance with contractual requirements, ensuring compliance with specifications and operational standards.

Your contributions will directly support the successful implementation of advanced bus technologies, enhance fleet safety and efficiency, and contribute to maintaining Singapore's position as a leader in innovative public transport solutions.

[What we are looking for]

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, technically minded individual with a strong interest in automotive technology and public transportation innovation. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Background: Knowledge in Engineering (Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, Automotive or equivalent).
• Experience: At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in automotive technology industry, with exposure to vehicle systems, service, or maintenance. Experience with bus systems is advantageous.
• Industry Interest: Genuine interest in the public bus or related industry, with eagerness to develop proficiency in data analytics and emerging technologies.
• Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and good IT proficiency with willingness to learn new technologies.
• Attributes: A proactive, highly motivated and collaborative individual who works effectively under guidance whilst demonstrating initiative and eagerness to contribute to team objectives.
