Job Summary
The service engineer will maintain, install, and commission Life-Saving Appliances on vessels and in the company workshop, reporting to the Project and Workshop Managers. This hands-on role involves working onboard vessels and at the Tuas workshop.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodical inspections of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) including winches, davits, lifeboats, and release hooks to ensure operational safety
- Maintain, overhaul, and test hydraulic components such as hydraulic cylinders and stored power oil accumulators both onboard vessels and in the company workshop
- Prepare detailed technical service reports using computer systems to document inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Maintain accurate installation data, service information, and repair logs in the company database for tracking and compliance
- Keep the company workshop organized, ensuring tools and equipment are clean, maintained, and readily accessible
- Travel overseas as required to perform maintenance and commissioning work onboard customer vessels
- Apply technical experience to repair, inspect, maintain, and commission maritime equipment, focusing on Life-Saving Appliances
Required competencies and certifications
- Experience working on Life-Saving Appliances (winches, hooks, davits) in the maritime industry
- Technical experience in repairs, inspection, maintenance, and commissioning within maritime settings
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Ability to solve complex technical problems under stressful and time-constrained conditions
