Description and Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain AWS RDS databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
  • Apply ITIL-aligned incident, change, and problem management practices in daily operations.
  • Ensure database performance, availability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
  • Design and implement automated solutions for provisioning, backup, recovery, and scaling using AWS-native tools and scripting.
  • Provide L2 operational support, including root cause analysis and issue resolution aligned with ITIL service operations.
  • Implement security controls, data protection, and compliance in line with cloud and ITIL governance frameworks.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, including high availability and replication.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation, ensuring timely response to incidents as per SLAs.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to support change releases and service transitions.
  • Experience in WOG/GCC and GCC+ environments is preferred.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years in database administration, with at least 3+ years in AWS and AWS RDS environments.
  • 3-5 years of SQL database administration experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and NoSQL technologies.
  • Proven experience in AWS database services such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and the associated ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL service management framework, particularly incident, change, and problem management.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AWS automation tools: CloudFormation, Lambda, and scripting (Python, Bash).
  • Experience using AWS monitoring tools: CloudWatch, Performance Insights, AWS Trusted Advisor.
  • Strong in database backup/recovery, replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service desk tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy) is a plus.
  • Exposure to WOG/GCC and GCC+ environments is a strong advantage.

  • AWS Certified Database - Specialty
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • ITIL Foundation Certification

Preferred:

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
