Job Summary
A lorry driver, also known as a truck driver, is responsible for transporting goods and materials using large commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Drive the lorry safely by following traffic laws, regulations, and respecting vehicle weight and size limits to ensure secure transportation.
- Load and unload goods securely and accurately to prevent damage and ensure correct delivery.
- Plan the most efficient routes to meet delivery schedules and optimize travel time.
- Inspect the lorry regularly for mechanical issues and safety concerns, performing preventative maintenance to maintain vehicle reliability.
- Complete and hand over transport documents, receipts, and trip reports accurately to support logistics tracking.
- Review orders before and after delivery to confirm accuracy and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents on the road to maintain safety and minimize disruptions.
