Job Description: Logistics Manager
(Land Transportation)
The Logistics Manager (Land Transportation) is responsible for the strategic oversight and
day-to-day execution of trucking, haulage, and last-mile delivery operations. In the
Singapore context, this role focuses on maximizing fleet utilization, ensuring strict
LTA/MOM compliance, and navigating the complexities of urban distribution.
1. Fleet Operations & Driver Management
. Fleet Oversight: Manage a diverse fleet of vehicles (e.g., Prime Movers, Lorries, Vans),
ensuring they are roadworthy and compliant with Land Transport Authority (LTA)
standards.
. Driver Coordination: Oversee a team of company drivers and subcontractors, managing
duty rosters, trip incentives, and fatigue management (MOM hours of work).
. Vehicle Maintenance: Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and inspections
(VICOM/STA) to minimize vehicle downtime.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Workplace Safety
. LTA Compliance: Ensure all vehicles adhere to weight limits, height restrictions, and
Parking/COE/Road Tax requirements.
. WSH Standards: Champion Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) on the road and in the
loading bay maintain BizSafe Level 3 or higher.
. Dangerous Goods (DG): (If applicable) Manage SCDF permits for the transport of
hazardous materials and ensure drivers hold the required Hazardous Materials Driver
Permit (HTDP).
3. Operations Control & Digitalization
. Route Planning: Use GPS tracking and routing software to plan the most efficient
delivery paths, bypassing peak-hour ERP zones where possible.
. TMS Implementation: Lead the adoption of Transport Management Systems (TMS) for
real-time tracking, e-POD (Electronic Proof of Delivery), and automated billing.
. Performance Analysis: Monitor Cost per Trip and Fuel Consumption metrics to
identify opportunities for operational savings.
4. Stakeholder & Financial Oversight
. Customer Service: Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with key clients, ensuring
timely pick-ups and deliveries across the island.
. Cost Control: Manage operational budgets, including diesel costs, ERP charges, parking
fees, and vehicle insurance premiums.
. Incident Management: Lead investigations into road traffic accidents or cargo claims,
coordinating with insurance companies and legal authorities.
