LNG Trader - Major Energy

Description

Our client is a leading international energy group with an established presence across the world. The business operates across the upstream, midstream, downstream sectors, with a strong global commodities trading platform. As part of its continued growth, the company is looking to hire an LNG Trader in Singapore.

Role

Reporting to Head of LNG. The LNG Trader will be responsible for trading physical LNG cargoes across the Pacific Basin, Middle East, JKTC and Southeast Asia, while working with the global team to capture optimisation and arbitrage opportunities. The role involves developing physical and financial trading strategies based on LNG fundamentals, global trade flows, pricing, freight and supply-chain economics, as well as managing price exposures across the global LNG portfolio. The trader will contribute to global supply-demand views, partner closely with Financial Traders, Origination and other commercial teams, and support the evaluation, structuring and negotiation of medium- and long-term opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with counterparties and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of LNG trading experience, particularly within the Pacific Basin, together with experience in LNG contract negotiations. A degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing or a related discipline is required. The candidate should possess strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quantify risk and support trading decisions using digital and analytical tools such as Excel and VBA. Strong communication skills, commercial judgement and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative trading environment are essential.
