Responsibilities
- Perform regular system reviews and implement proactive performance tuning and resilience enhancements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and configure technical solutions based on business and application requirements
- Establish configuration standards and design guidelines for Linux and system software covering availability, performance, resilience, monitoring, backup, and recovery
- Troubleshoot system issues and lead system recovery efforts with urgency and proactivity
- Escalate major impact problems to the Problem Management Team and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
- Review and approve change requests and supervise execution of major system changes
- Automate repetitive system operations to improve efficiency
- Track and drive patch management and software upgrades to maintain continuous supportability
- Establish monitoring systems to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery
- Apply modern technologies and processes to enhance system supportability, recoverability, availability, and performance
- Provide OS and system software expertise to support project phases including requirement gathering, design, procurement, implementation, and operations handover
- Support audit and compliance activities
- Operate effectively in a 24/7 work environment under flexible work arrangements
- Respond promptly to support emails, phone calls, and alert notifications, completing follow-up and duty handover actions
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Technical knowledge of RHEL/Oracle Linux, Unix hardware, operating systems, and system services such as Volume Manager, NTP, NFS, DNS, clustering, SSH, TSM, ITM, and Citrix
- Experience planning and leading OS upgrade and migration activities independently
- Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills for Linux, UNIX, storage, backup, and Citrix environments
- Experience implementing and managing VCS clustering
- Knowledge of server hardening techniques to secure systems
- Experience with middleware such as Connect Direct and SSH, supporting application setups in Linux/UNIX environments
- Scripting skills in Bash, Python, and Perl to automate repetitive tasks
- Certification in Linux (added advantage)
- Knowledge of Satellite and CI/CD tools
