Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Linux & VMware Implementation Engineer to join our infrastructure engineering team. The role involves large-scale deployment, migration, and optimization of VMware ESXi environments, Linux systems, and related enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in virtualization, automation, and system hardening, with proven experience managing complex data center projects.
ey Responsibilities
- Collaborate with third-party vendors for hardware, cabling, networking, and VMware OS-related issues.
- Green Field projects
- Deploy and configure ESXi hosts on HP Gen9 and Dell R630/R640 servers in AMRS data centers.
- Implement and manage security certificates (requests, generation, installation of signed certificates).
- Enroll new ESXi hosts into CyberArk for password vaulting.
- Harden ESXi hosts using post-build PowerShell scripts.
- Create and configure vSAN clusters, integrate ESXi hosts with Active Directory for authentication, configure LAG/LACP, and perform template cloning via vRO workflows.
- Conduct Post Build Verification (PBV) of ESXi hosts against internal engineering standards to ensure smooth transition to Operations.
- Participate in VMware upgrade projects (ESXi hosts from v5.x to v6.x).
Migration:
- Migrate ESXi hosts from legacy vCenter (v5.5) to new vCenter (v6.5).
- Migrate VMs/storage from legacy local datastore infrastructure to vSAN infrastructure.
Operations
- Troubleshoot build and upgrade-related issues.
- Develop PowerCLI scripts to generate configuration reports and modify parameters.
- Migrate Linux (RHEL 6 & 7) VMs, including data transfer from legacy NAS to local VMDK disks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in VMware ESXi implementation and Linux administration.
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and virtualization concepts.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, PowerCLI, Bash, and automation tools.
- Experience with security hardening, certificate management, and AD integration.
- Familiarity with CyberArk or similar password vaulting solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are preferred.
