Job Purpose
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and future-forward library professional to run and enhance day-to-day operations within a dynamic school environment. This role supports core library functions while contributing to process improvement, digital outreach, and technology-enabled learning resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Library Operations
- Support daily library operations across the checking in/out, reservation, and loan tracking of materials.
- Maintain and upkeep physical and digital resources, including cataloging, shelving, stock-taking, and processing new arrivals in line with library processes and policy.
- Oversee the library space to ensure it remains a clean, welcoming and organized.
2. User Support & Service Administration
- Serve as a primary contact for library-related enquiries from students and staff.
- Assist users accurately and efficiently in navigating the library catalog, digital subscriptions, and online resources.
3. Outreach, Communications & Event Support
- Support school-wide literacy initiatives, book weeks, author visits, and other reading promotion exercises.
- Coordinate communications and leverage AI-assisted tools to draft content and design engaging promotional materials (using tools like Canva) to highlight library resources and promote reading.
- Contribute to collection curation and continuous innovation in promoting a reading culture.
4. Strategic Library Improvement
- Implement process improvements for operational efficiency, and service excellence towards stakeholders.
- Support library digitalization, media technologies, and evolving self-service practices.
Key Requirements
- Diploma or related disciplines.
- A love for books and reading.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and digitally confident (e.g., Canva, Google Workspace, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, etc).
- Experience working in a school or public library environment is advantageous.
