Job Summary

The Legal Manager/Snr will be the trusted legal advisor to the business, providing strategic and practical legal guidance across a wide range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. This role reports to the International Legal Director and will also assist in the operation and management of the legal department, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of legal-related policies, processes, and compliance frameworks.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the International Legal Director to help in running and managing the legal department, including legal operations, policies, and best practices.
  • Act as a strategic legal partner to the business teams, providing pragmatic and solution-oriented legal advice on business operations, commercial transactions, and regulatory matters. Identify, assess and mitigate legal, regulatory and commercial risks, advise on impact and propose solutions.
  • Support new business initiatives, market entry, and operational changes by proactively identifying legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to procurement, sales, manufacturing and services agreements. Ensure contractual terms align with company policies and commercial objectives.
  • Support corporate secretarial matters, including preparation and review of board materials, resolutions and meeting documentation.
  • Monitor, interpret, assess and apply relevant local and international laws and regulations, translating local requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement and continually improve legal, compliance and governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and corporate governance requirements, internal policies and ethical standards across the organization. Conduct periodic compliance review, risk assessments and support remediation plans where gaps are identified.
  • Manage or support litigation, disputes, and regulatory inquiries, including managing external counsel as needed. Develop and implement effective dispute management strategies including litigation risk assessment and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Oversee external counsel selection, instruction, performance and cost management in line with internal policies to ensure effect and efficient dispute handling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, HR, Sales, Product, Operations etc) to support business.
  • Establish and maintain contract governance processes including template standardization, approval workflow and contract lifecycle management.
  • Mentor junior legal team members, and contribute to building and maintaining a high-performing legal team.

Job Qualifications:

  • 10 to 15 years of legal experience, including substantial in-house experience (or a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house)
  • Licensed to practice law and good standing with the relevant bar
  • Law degree from reputable law school
  • Strong experience in commercial and corporate law
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with international stakeholders and across time zones
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and business-oriented mindset
  • Prior experience working in a global or multinational organization
  • Familiarity with global compliance frameworks and cross-border legal issues
