About the Role
As Legal Manager, you will be AI Rudder's senior legal authority across our international markets. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role — you will both build the legal function and run it. You will handle active cases and disputes, build internal compliance frameworks from the ground up, and partner closely with leadership to ensure the business operates with integrity as we scale. You will manage the legal team across all jurisdictions and report directly to senior leadership.
This role is right for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, is comfortable being the first and final word on legal matters, and can balance strategic thinking with rolling up their sleeves on day-to-day casework.
What You'll Do
Legal Operations & Case Management
- Own and manage all active legal cases, disputes, and claims across AI Rudder's global markets, including SEA, Latin America and other regions.
- Lead negotiations, manage external counsel, and drive resolution on contract disputes, employment matters, and commercial claims
- Review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial contracts including enterprise SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and cross-border employment terms
- Provide timely, practical legal advice to business teams on day-to-day matters
Compliance & Risk
- Design and implement AI Rudder's global legal compliance framework, covering data privacy (PDPA, LGPD, and other applicable regulations), AI governance, employment law, and cross-border commercial operations
- Monitor and track evolving regulatory requirements across our operating markets, particularly around AI, data, and fintech-adjacent use cases
- Develop and maintain internal policies, standard operating procedures, and legal playbooks for key compliance areas
- Lead regulatory filings, licensing requirements, and government interactions across jurisdictions
- Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments; identify gaps and drive remediation
People & Team Leadership
- Manage and develop the legal team; provide mentorship, set priorities, and build team capability
- Work cross-functionally with People, Finance, Product, and Sales to embed legal and compliance thinking into core business processes
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel, managing relationships and cost efficiency
What You Bring
- Law degree (LLB or equivalent); admitted to the bar in Singapore or a common law jurisdiction preferred
- At least 7+ years of legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house background in international exposure are preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing active disputes and legal cases end-to-end, not just advisory work
- Strong knowledge of commercial law, contract law, and employment law; working familiarity with Southeast Asian and/or Latin American jurisdictions is a strong plus
- Experience with data privacy compliance (PDPA mandatory; GDPR, LGPD a plus)
- Familiarity with AI, SaaS, or telecommunications regulatory landscapes is a significant advantage
- Experience managing a small legal team or external counsel relationships
- Fluent in English and Mandarin, a Southeast Asian language is a plus
- Startup or high-growth company experience: you know how to prioritize, move fast, and get things done without a large support structure
