Our client, a leading Japanese entertainment company specializing in animation, film, and character IP, is expanding in Southeast Asia and seeking a Legal Executive for its Singapore office. This role focuses on drafting and reviewing contracts using internal templates and providing legal support across departments-offering a great opportunity for legal professionals seeking international exposure in a dynamic, creative environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and revise commercial contracts using in-house templates
- Provide legal advice and identify potential legal risks
- Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary
- Support internal legal matters including compliance and governance
- Assist in managing intellectual property (IP) matters such as registration, protection, and infringement response
Requirements & Preferences
(Must)
- Diploma or Degree in Law or a relevant legal qualification
- 3-8 years of experience in legal roles, preferably in contract-focused work
- Strong skills in contract drafting, review, and legal advisory
- Business-level Mandarin (speaking and reading) is required for business communication and contract review.
- Proven experience in reviewing commercial contracts on a regular basis, including Distribution Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Franchise Agreements, and other related business agreements.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple legal matters in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and flexible mindset
(Advantageous)
- Experience in IP rights management (trademark, copyright, etc.)
- Experience in IP and trademark filing, as well as handling infringement matters, would be an advantage.
- Written Mandarin is preferred as there may be occasions to communicate and coordinate with Mandarin-speaking counterparties.
- Prior exposure to international companies or cross-border legal work
