Job Description

We are partnering with a leading Asia-headquartered real estate group to appoint a Legal Counsel to join its established legal team.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will advise on a broad range of corporate real estate and transactional matters, with particular exposure to acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and other strategic investments.

This is a highly business-facing role offering the opportunity to work closely with investment and commercial teams on sophisticated transactions across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on real estate investments and transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
  • Support M&A and other corporate transactions from structuring and due diligence through negotiation, documentation and completion.
  • Draft, review and negotiate transaction documents, including sale and purchase agreements, shareholders agreements, joint venture agreements and other commercial contracts.
  • Work closely with investment, finance, asset management and other business teams on transaction execution and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide practical legal advice on corporate, commercial and real estate matters arising from the group's operations.
  • Coordinate and manage external counsel across relevant jurisdictions where required.
  • Identify key legal and transaction risks and provide commercially pragmatic solutions to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 6 years PQE.
  • Strong experience in corporate real estate transactions and M&A.
  • Experience advising on acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and/or investment transactions within the real estate sector would be particularly relevant.
  • Prior in-house experience with a real estate developer, investment platform, fund or other corporate is preferred.
  • Candidates from a leading law firm with strong corporate/M&A and real estate transactional experience are equally encouraged to apply.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable working directly with business and investment teams.
