We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Legal Counsel to join our Regional Legal team on a 4-month temporary contract(non-renewable) to provide maternity cover. In this role, you will work closely with Mercedes-Benz Singapore Legal team, partnering with business leaders and regional legal colleagues across multiple markets. This position is offered through an agency and you will be fully integrated into our Legal function and play a vital role in supporting business growth, managing legal risk, and safeguarding one of the world's most iconic brands.

Key Responsibilities
1. Trusted Legal Business Partner
As a key member of the Legal team, you will:
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact for business stakeholders across B2B and B2C products and services.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with business functions and provide commercially focused legal advice.
- Support day-to-day operational matters including legal consultation, as well as strategic and tactical business initiatives and projects.
- Supports stakeholders and takes an active role at negotiations of legal topics and legal documents with business partners, public authorities and other external parties
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of contracts to ensure the company's legal rights and interests are protected and/or enforced, and to minimize legal risks or breaches of law/contract
- Lead or support negotiations involving business partners, government authorities, and other external parties.
- Manage litigation, disputes, investigations, and audits (internal and external) where relevant to the Legal function, as required.
2. Legal Strategy, Compliance & Governance
You will also play a critical role in strengthening legal governance and compliance across the business by:
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining legal templates, including contracts, terms and conditions, privacy policies, and cookie policies.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and proactively advising stakeholders on potential business impacts.
- Drafting and reviewing internal legal policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal Mercedes-Benz Group requirements.
- Providing updates and delivering relevant legal and compliance topics training to management and employees.
- Supporting Mercedes-Benz Legal Headquarters on legal reviews, audits, and compliance measures.
- Partnering with Compliance functions across the Mercedes-Benz Group.
- Managing corporate governance portfolio, including statutory registers, Companies Act requirements, and drafting and coordination of corporate secretarial items with directors and corporate representatives (e.g., DRIW, Minutes of Meetings)
- Acting as main legal advisor for corporate legal matters, including corporate, transactional, and commercial legal matters and supports the business in ensuring compliance with laws and with legally sound advice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent from a recognized law school.
- Qualified and admitted to the Singapore Bar.
- Minimum 5 years of legal working experience at (i) an in-house legal department (multinational company is a plus), and/ or (ii) a reputable law firm
- High and consistent level of integrity, including being able to take a personal stand, to take responsibility and be accountable
- Solid knowledge of (i) Data protection and privacy laws, including Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act and GDPR); (ii) General corporate law (including incorporation of new entities); (iii) Corporate governance and company secretarial matters; (iv) Financial services-related legal matters
- Good legal research and writing skills, and able to think analytically and strategically
- Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts
- Capable of translating complex legal topics into brief and comprehensible legal analysis, with concrete and precise recommendations
- Strong ability to understand business needs and partner with business to create solutions, and possess effective communication skills (both written and verbal, and in particular with business stakeholders as well as management), including presentation and training skills
- Ability to manage conflict and resolve/ mediate disputes
- Penchant for networking and interacting in a larger global team, and experience in working with and managing external lawyers
- Ability to multi-task, and work effectively under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
