Role Overview
This role sits within the legal team of a leading financial institution and offers exposure to a broad range of commercial, regulatory, and governance matters. You will work closely with business and functional stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, solutions-oriented legal advice in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities
1. Strategic Legal Advisory
- Provide timely, practical legal advice across commercial, governance, and regulatory matters
- Partner closely with stakeholders to balance legal risk, regulatory compliance, and business objectives
- Advise with sensitivity to reputational and ethical considerations
2. Legal Risk & Governance
- Develop, enhance, and implement legal risk management frameworks, policies, and processes
- Support internal stakeholders through training and guidance on legal and compliance topics
- Monitor and report on legal, regulatory, and compliance developments, including potential breaches
3. Documentation & Transaction Support
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including commercial agreements, policies, and templates
- Ensure documentation effectively mitigates legal risk while remaining commercially practical
- Support transactional and strategic initiatives, including cross-border matters where relevant
4. Industry & Regulatory Insight
- Keep abreast of developments across financial services and regulatory landscapes
- Assess the impact of regulatory and market changes on the organisation
- Proactively identify and manage emerging legal risks
Requirements
Experience & Technical Expertise
- 5–7 years PQE, ideally within financial services or a related environment
- Strong grounding across a mix of:
- M&A and joint ventures
- Technology and outsourcing agreements
- Insolvency and restructuring principles (e.g. set-off, novation)
- Intellectual property and licensing
- Marketing and cross-border regulatory considerations

- Ability to manage external counsel effectively while maintaining cost discipline
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
