Legal Counsel (Commercial) - Contract

KorumLegal is assisting an insurance technology client seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team in Singapore. This is a contract opportunity operating within a highly regulated environment, with the potential for conversion. The successful candidate will support a broad range of commercial, contractual, and compliance matters across regional operations. Given the urgency of this engagement, candidates with immediate availability will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commercial contracts and technology transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements such as SaaS, PaaS, partnership, and vendor contracts. The role involves supporting or independently managing cross‑border negotiations across APAC and other English‑speaking markets, as well as providing legal and regulatory advice across multiple jurisdictions. The role will also assist with the development of new template contracts and playbooks to address evolving business needs, and provide ad hoc legal and compliance support as directed by the General Counsel.

Requirements

The client is looking for a common law qualified lawyer with 5-10 years of post‑qualification experience, gained across both respected law firms and in‑house legal teams. They will have completed their law degree in a leading common law jurisdiction, such as the UK, Hong Kong or Singapore. This role requires commercial acumen and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment. Experience negotiating with large technology companies across APAC, together with exposure to TMT, internet, cloud or SaaS/PaaS work, would be a strong advantage. Outstanding legal drafting and interpretation skills are essential, together with excellent English proficiency.
