We are partnering with an established and fast-growing fintech group to appoint a Legal Counsel to support its continued growth across Singapore and the wider region.
This is a broad in-house legal role with a strong financial services regulatory component. We are particularly keen to speak with lawyers who have experience advising banks, payment institutions, fintech platforms or other regulated financial institutions, either from private practice or an in-house environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the business on a broad range of financial services and fintech regulatory matters, including regulatory requirements applicable to the group's products, services and operations.
- Provide legal advice on banking and financial services regulations, including matters relating to licensing, regulatory perimeter, conduct requirements and new product launches.
- Work closely with Compliance, Risk and business stakeholders on interactions with MAS and other relevant regulators.
- Support the structuring and roll-out of new products, partnerships and commercial initiatives across the region.
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including technology, platform, payments, financial services, outsourcing and partnership arrangements.
- Advise on regulatory developments and assess their impact on existing and proposed business activities.
- Support regional expansion, including working with local counsel on licensing and regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.
- Provide legal support on corporate, governance and other general commercial matters as required.
- Work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to provide practical, commercially focused legal solutions.
Requirements
- 5–10 years PQE, with qualification from a recognised jurisdiction.
- Strong experience in banking, financial services or fintech regulatory work.
- Candidates from leading law firms, banks, payment companies, fintech businesses or other regulated financial institutions are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with the Singapore financial regulatory framework and MAS requirements will be highly advantageous.
- Experience covering areas such as payments, digital banking, lending, stored value, financial products, technology platforms or regulated fintech products would be particularly relevant.
- Good commercial contracting skills and an ability to advise beyond purely regulatory matters.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment and working directly with senior business stakeholders.
- Commercial, pragmatic and able to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable advice.
