Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the firm's corporate and institutional banking business with an emphasis on complex debt financing transactions. Core areas of focus include fund financing, syndicated lending, and capital deployment into infrastructure and energy sectors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising front-office stakeholders on the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of financing transactions across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
- Taking a lead role in the review and negotiation of legal documents, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel to ensure proper legal risk management.
- Developing and maintaining legal templates and documentation standards for various lending and transaction banking products.
- Working closely with internal departments such as Risk, Compliance, and Credit, as well as regional agency teams, on transaction execution and advisory matters.
- Providing legal support on restructuring, recovery, and insolvency-related mandates when required.
- Leading or contributing to cross-border legal initiatives and group-wide financing projects.
- Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory developments impacting the lending and financial services sector in Asia-Pacific.
Requirements
- Commonwealth law qualified (4-15 PQE)
- Background in banking and finance law, gained either from a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department of a major financial institution.
- Exposure to structured/project financing (including in sectors like energy, transport, infrastructure, or natural resources) and experience with SPV structures, risk allocation, and cash-flow lending will be highly regarded.
- Ability to independently manage deals while also contributing as part of a regional legal team.
