Cana Consulting is partnering with a several leading organization to appoint a Legal Counsel on a 6-month contract basis to provide maternity/temporary cover within a well-established legal team.
This role is suited for a seasoned corporate commercial lawyer who is comfortable operating independently and partnering closely with business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including vendor, customer, service, and strategic partnership contracts
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units, including procurement, operations, and senior stakeholders
- Advise on regulatory, risk and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with internal policies and applicable laws
- Support corporate governance matters, including board and committee documentation where required
- Manage and coordinate with external counsel across relevant jurisdictions
- Drive improvements in legal processes, templates, and risk management frameworks
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 612 years PQE
- Strong experience in corporate and commercial law, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house exposure
- Proven ability to handle complex transactions and operate autonomously
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior business leaders
- Commercially astute, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented
