We are partnering with a leading international asset-heavy platform to appoint a Legal Counsel in Singapore. This is a newly created role within an established and well-regarded legal team, supporting a global business across multiple jurisdictions.
The role offers strong exposure to a dynamic environment operating at the intersection of shipping, logistics, commodities and energy, and would suit a commercially minded lawyer seeking a broad, hands-on in-house position.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including service, supplier, subcontractor and confidentiality agreements
- Support disputes relating to commercial contracts and asset-related transactions
- Assist on corporate and financing matters, including joint ventures and cross-border transactions
- Support the establishment and ongoing management of international entities
- Contribute to legal risk management, internal policies and process improvements
- Assist with compliance, KYC processes and contract management
- Support company secretarial and corporate governance matters
- Work closely with stakeholders across commercial, operational and finance teams
- Supervise and mentor junior legal team members
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction, ideally England & Wales
- Approximately 5–10 years PQE, gained in private practice and/or in-house
- Strong grounding in commercial contracts, with exposure to disputes and/or cross-border matters
- Prior experience in shipping / shipowner environments is highly regarded
- Candidates from adjacent sectors (e.g. oil & gas, commodities trading, logistics, infrastructure) are also encouraged to apply
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a hands-on approach
