The ideal candidate will be responsible for in-house legal matters including drafting agreements, addressing compliance issues, and participating in negotiation discussions. In order to succeed, this candidate should feel comfortable working with in-house and outside counsels on a variety of legal matters.

Parttime arrangement Approximately 1-2 days per week

Key Responsibilities - South East Asia coverage

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, services, distribution, marketing, confidentiality, and technology-related contracts.
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend proportionate, business-oriented solutions.
  • Support corporate governance and local corporate secretarial requirements, including the maintenance of appropriate records, approvals, and filings.
  • Advise on advertising, marketing, consumer protection, competition, data privacy, and other matters relevant to business operations.
  • Assist with the management of disputes, legal notices, claims, and external counsel where required.
  • Provide legal guidance on new initiatives, commercial projects, and changes to business practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across functions such as Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, Procurement, Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of legal templates, policies, processes, and compliance controls.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Singapore or Hong Kong Legal Qualification required
  • Ideally at least 8+ years of relevant post-qualification experience, gained in-house, in private practice, or through a combination of both.
  • Working knowledge of South East Asia jurisdictions ideally Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand.
  • Experience advising an international or multinational business would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable working in a flexible, part-time capacity and prioritising matters within a limited weekly allocation.
