About the Opportunity
Our client is an established financial institution seeking a Singapore-qualified lawyer to join its Legal & Compliance team at the Assistant Vice President level. This role offers a balanced mix of commercial legal work and regulatory compliance responsibilities, providing strong exposure to a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Commercial Support
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, corporate documents and legal contracts
- Provide timely and practical legal advice to business and support functions
- Identify legal risks associated with business initiatives and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support contract negotiations with external counterparties
- Review and update internal policies, procedures and governance documents
Regulatory Compliance
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the organization's compliance framework
- Provide advisory on regulatory obligations applicable to financial institutions
- Monitor regulatory developments and assist in impact assessment and implementation
- Support internal compliance reviews, audits and regulatory enquiries
- Develop and deliver compliance training programmes to staff
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws
- Singapore-qualified lawyer with at least 1 year PQE (private practice or in-house)
- Experience in financial services, banking, asset management or other regulated industries preferred
- Strong understanding of corporate and commercial legal principles
- Good stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Prior compliance exposure will be an advantage
