Job Description

A leading international law firm with a strong insurance practice in Singapore is looking to expand its Cyber Insurance team, working closely with senior lawyers who bring extensive regional expertise.

This is a coverage-focused role at the intersection of insurance law and technology regulation. You will advise [re]insurers and corporate clients on cyber policy coverage disputes, breach response, and the regulatory dimensions of cyber incidents across the Asia Pacific region. The work spans pre-incident advisory, live incident management, regulatory investigations, and coverage litigation or arbitration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise [re]insurers on cyber policy coverage - interpret and apply policy terms in complex claims involving ransomware, data breaches, business interruption, and emerging cyber risks.
  • Act as breach response counsel - coordinate multi-jurisdictional responses for insured clients, working with technical experts and regulators to manage live incidents effectively.
  • Guide clients through regulatory investigations - support dealings with data protection authorities and advise on compliance obligations under Singapore and regional frameworks.
  • Manage coverage disputes - assist in matters proceeding to mediation, arbitration, or litigation, ensuring clear strategy and effective advocacy.
  • Support data protection compliance - advise on mandatory breach notification requirements and broader cybersecurity legislation across Asia Pacific.
  • Contribute to thought leadership - produce insights, briefings, and market intelligence on evolving cyber risks and insurance trends.

Requirements

  • Singapore-qualified lawyer preferred, with at least 3 years PQE.
  • Experience in insurance coverage, technology law, or data privacy.
  • Familiarity with cyber insurance products and common coverage issues (ransomware, social engineering, system failure, regulatory fines).
  • Experience advising on regulatory investigations, particularly before data protection authorities, is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Singapore's PDPA and related cybersecurity legislation; exposure to other APAC regimes is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to deliver clear, commercial advice under time pressure.

Why Join

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge cyber insurance mandates across Asia Pacific.
  • Direct exposure to high-value disputes and regulatory investigations.
  • Collaborative team culture with strong mentorship from senior lawyers.
  • Platform to develop expertise at the intersection of insurance law and technology regulation.
