Job Description

The Legal & Licensing Manager is responsible for safeguarding the Group's legal interests by providing practical legal advice, managing contracts and disputes, coordinating with external counsel and regulatory authorities, and ensuring that all licences, permits, and statutory submissions are maintained accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on contracts and other legal documents entered into by the Group.
  • Provide timely and commercially practical legal advice on business activities, regulatory matters, claims, and disputes.
  • Engage and manage external legal counsel, including coordinating instructions, reviewing advice, and monitoring legal costs and case progress.
  • Represent or support the Group in matters before courts, tribunals, administrative bodies, public authorities, and other relevant parties.
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend appropriate preventive or corrective measures to minimize the Group's exposure.
  • Build legal awareness among relevant stakeholders and promote compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal requirements.
  • Liaise with government agencies, regulators, local authorities, and other competent bodies on legal and licensing matters.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date licensing records, statutory documents, application forms, and related correspondence.
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on applications, renewals, and supporting documents with the Ministry of Health, State Health Departments, municipal councils, and other relevant authorities.
  • Monitor license and permit expiry dates to ensure timely renewal and continued regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience·

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or an equivalent recognized qualification; a Master of Laws (LLM) is an advantage.
  • Qualified lawyer with a valid practicing certificate or another recognized jurisdiction.
  • Admission to the PRC Bar is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in corporate law, commercial law, regulatory matters, or cross-border transactions.
  • Knowledge of Chinese law and the regulatory environment is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin, with strong reading, writing, communication, and legal drafting skills. Mandarin proficiency is required as the role will involve liaising with stakeholders from different countries, including China.
