[What the role is]
This is a 2-year contract position Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Social Innovation, Design Thinking, Interdisciplinary Projects) in the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies.
Candidates Should Have Prior Experience In Or a Related Discipline. Competent To Develop, Teach And Provide Leadership In The Following Areas
- Social Innovation
- Design thinking
- Multidisciplinary industry-based projects
We are seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our academic team in Social Innovation & Interdisciplinary Learning. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of change-makers, equipping students and adult learners with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to tackle complex social challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.
[What you will be working on]
Curriculum development, course delivery (face-to-face/online) and project facilitation & supervision for youth and adult learners in the following areas:
- Social Sustainability
- Design Thinking & LUMA Recipes
- Multidisciplinary industry-based projects
- Project Management & Multidisciplinary Collaborations
- Interdisciplinary Learning
- Complex problem solving – research, ideation and prototyping
- Communication for Social Change
- Able to teach at least one evening or weekends in the week, lead overseas student trips
- Lead and identify new opportunities, initiatives and collaborations with industry stakeholders, related government agencies, social enterprises, community organisations & institutes of higher learning
- Be up to date with the latest developments in social innovation, human-centred design and interdisciplinary learning
- Manage administrative work related to teaching and assigned projects
[What we are looking for]
Essential pre-requisites relating to years of experience, skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Design, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business or equivalent
- Strong understanding of social innovation concepts, trends, and practices, with hands-on experience in social enterprise, non-profit management, or social impact consulting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to apply innovative pedagogical approaches, adopt multidisciplinary perspectives and use technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Experience in engaging with industry stakeholders, social enterprises, community organizations, and/or government agencies is highly desirable
- An agile team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Project/time management and attention to detail
