The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) invites applications for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to support and grow the Biomedical Data Science programme, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will be an educator with strong quantitative and biomedical expertise, and will contribute both to teaching and the strategic development of the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Teach core and elective courses in areas such as:
Biomedical data science, bioinformatics/omics analytics
Statistics, machine learning / deep learning for biomedical data
Data handling, reproducible workflows, and good data practices
Design and update curriculum and assessments to keep the MSc programme aligned with industry and research needs.
Supervise and mentor MSc students on research/capstone projects and internships.
Support programme management, including student recruitment, marketing, quality assurance and industry/agency engagement.
Requirements
PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Biomedical Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science / AI with biomedical focus, Biomedical Engineering or related field).
Demonstrated expertise in at least one of:
Bioinformatics/omics data analysis
AI / ML for biomedical or healthcare applications
Data-intensive biotechnology platforms and their analytics
Strong programming and data skills (e.g. Python and/or R experience with common ML / data-science libraries).
Evidence of good university-level teaching or clear potential (e.g. teaching portfolio, student feedback, training experience).
Excellent communication skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
