Lecturer (Food, Nutrition & Culinary Science)
[What you will be working on]
The candidate should be proficient in teaching subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, nutritional biochemistry, human nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and food service operations. He/she should also have a strong industry network, student-centric, proficient in leveraging AI/digital tools to enhance learning, entrepreneurial in thinking, and competent in research and innovation.
The responsibilities include the following:
- Delivering lectures, tutorials, and practicums for pre-employment training (PET) and continuing education and training (CET) programmes, in face-to-face and online learning environments.
- Contribute to curriculum development and review to ensure alignment with industry competencies and workforce needs, leading to high-quality teaching, learning, and training materials for PET and CET programmes.
- Leverage industry network to establish internship opportunities and secure sponsorships for student awards, scholarships, and related initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor students in industry-based and research projects in relevant areas, including the provision of holistic student mentorship, pastoral care, and guidance in character development, career readiness, and professional growth.
- Design and facilitate skills workshops and outreach activities, including the development of relevant training and engagement materials.
- Secure industry consultancy projects and/or research grants to train students and maintain industry-relevancy of staff.
[What we are looking for]
- Qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics, or relevant field.
- At least five years of relevant working experience in nutrition, healthcare and/or clinical settings and preferably with experience in staff/student training.
- Experience in nutrition education, community care, meal planning and nutrition care process. Experience in clinical settings and food service operations would be an advantage.
- Proficient in IT skills including development of online learning materials.
- Knowledge and experience in AI tools, data analytics and digital health will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated competence in leading or supporting applied nutrition research, industry and/or interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Passionate about teaching and mentoring students, with the ability to guide students in both academic and professional development.
