About the Role
The Lead UX/UI designer is responsible for defining, leading, and delivering high quality user experiences across digital tools and platforms that support business objectives and user needs. This role translates UX/UI strategy into effective design execution, drives end-to-end experience delivery, and ensures consistency, usability, accessibility, and compliance with AIA Group Design Standards.Design Leadership & Strategy
Define and articulate digital tool strategy, socializing it with key stakeholders for buy-in & alignment.
Influence product strategy by contributing user insights and design recommendations early in planning and prioritization cycles.
Provide design effort estimation to support planning and resourcing of projects.
Review and guide design work to ensure high quality outcomes, consistency, usability, and adherence to AIA Group Design Standards.
Coach and mentor offshore junior designers through constructive feedback, design critiques, and capability development.
Design & Experience Delivery
Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design across research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, design handover and design QA.
Translate user needs and business requirements into intuitive and effective design solutions.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail and design consistency across screens and flows.
Produce clear design documentation to support development and implementation.
Proactively identify UX/UI issues and recommend improvements and iterate designs based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and delivery teams.
Ensure digital experiences across all platforms are consistent, accessible, and aligned with AIA Group Design Standards while meeting local regulatory compliance requirements.
User Research & Insights
Plan and conduct user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
Synthesize and translate research findings into actionable design and recommendations and opportunity to improve user satisfaction & business outcome.
Apply research insights to improve existing flows and inform design solutions.
Monitor competitor UX/UI strategies within the insurance sector by conducting regular benchmarking of digital experiences to identify opportunities for improvements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Facilitate workshops and design discussions with business stakeholders, project managers and tech lead to drive shared understanding and design decisions.
Balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints to arrive at practical solutions.
Communicate design rationale clearly using user insights and data.
Measurement & Impact
Define and track UX/UI KPIs (task completion, System Usability Scale Score (SUSS), CSAT, in-app rating).
Drive iterative improvements based on feedback and performance insights.
Bachelor's degree in design (UX/UI), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), psychology, or a related field.
At least 8 to 10 years of experience in UX/UI design, including leading complex digital initiatives with a preference for backgrounds in regulated industries like finance or insurance.
Mastery of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) is highly valued to ensure design feasibility.
Strong ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and prove business impact.
Strong experience in end-to-end UX/UI delivery across research, interaction design, and validation.
Proven ability to guide and review design work to a high-quality standard.
Strong stakeholders engagement and communication skills.
