Location: Remote within Singapore. This role is also open to candidates based in Shenzhen, where onsite attendance is required.

About the Role

As the founding Lead Software Engineer, you will take full ownership of the software ecosystem surrounding the company's core product. You will lead the critical transition from an outsourced development model to a high-performing in-house engineering core. This is a high-leverage role where you will bridge the gap between hardware engineering and global product strategy, evolving a functional V1 codebase into a market-ready V2 platform featuring closed-loop biofeedback and subscription infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drive the Software Transition: Successfully absorb and stabilize the existing V1 codebase from external agency partners, making strategic decisions on what to refactor, keep, or rebuild for the in-house foundation.
• Own the Hardware-Software Seam: Partner closely with hardware engineers to co-develop and debug at the BLE protocol level, ensuring seamless integration between device sensors and the mobile application.
• Architect the V2 Platform: Lead the design and delivery of the V2 software suite, including native sensor integration, biofeedback systems, and scalable backend infrastructure to support subscription tiers.
• Build Data & ML Foundations: Establish the data infrastructure (event schemas, ETL, and warehousing) necessary to drive AI/ML features and clinical validation efforts.
• Manage Strategic Vendor Partnerships: Direct and integrate the work of specialized external vendors in areas such as Machine Learning and content development to accelerate product milestones.

Requirements

Minimum/Core Requirements:

• Demonstrated full-stack engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping both client-side and server-side applications in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and IoT integration, with the ability to operate comfortably at the firmware/protocol level.
• Demonstrated experience in early-stage (0-to-1) startup environments, showing the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver high-quality results under resource constraints.
• Strong technical judgment and architectural reasoning, with the ability to make high-stakes stack decisions independently.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead capacity, with a focus on ownership and outcome-oriented engineering.
• High proficiency in English to communicate effectively with a global founding team.

Preferred/Bonus Requirements:

• Proficiency in React Native and Node.js/Python.
• Experience managing external technical vendors or remote dev shops.
• Familiarity with health/wellness technology or human performance data (EEG, biosensors).
• Proficiency in Mandarin is beneficial to facilitate communication with local supply chain partners and vendors.
