Job Summary
You will be working with our client who are well renowned in the public and financial sector. You will be part of the payments and securities team, responsible for managing systems that support electronic payment and securities operations. Your role involves ensuring smooth processing of interbank payments, securities transactions, and trade settlements. You are expected to understand the interactions between these systems and other market infrastructures.
Responsibilities
- Lead and implement software development practices, including continuous integration, delivery, and deployment to enhance code quality and speed of delivery
- Oversee and conduct comprehensive testing strategies, including functional, performance, and security testing to ensure robust and reliable software solutions
- Architect and develop backend systems, cloud applications, and data structures to support scalable and efficient software products
- Define and implement infrastructure as code practices, integrating multiple components and systems across the organisation
- Guide the development of frontend and cloud applications, analysing trade-offs and making informed technical decisions
- Design and oversee the implementation of software architecture, considering both functional and non-functional requirements
- Perform progressive manual review the source code delivered by the vendor and verify the implementation of the solution as per the approved design
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams and projects, with strong knowledge of agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and version control systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining applications (J2EE, Python, Java) and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Proficient in server-side technologies, microservices, RESTful APIs, containers, Kubernetes, and front-end frameworks (React, Angular).
- Strong database skills (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server), shell scripting, and experience with RHEL, OpenShift, OpenStack, JBOSS, and Maven.
- Skilled in secure coding practices, automated testing (Selenium/Watermelon), and monitoring production systems for performance and reliability.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), S.W.I.F.T messaging, and government or enterprise digital projects is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (Java, AWS Solution Architect, Kubernetes) are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, streamline operations, and articulate complex technical concepts
- Results-driven, organised, and able to work independently in fast-paced, agile environments.
- Strong problem solver with analytical thinking, able to design processes in ambiguous situations.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, capable of handling high-pressure, time-sensitive tasks.
- Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
This role is a direct 18-month contract with the client.
