Key Responsibilities
- Lead research programmes to develop and improve products aligned with market needs
- Provide technical expertise to solve complex scientific problems and guide experiments and trials
- Design and execute lab and pilot-scale work with strong scientific rigor
- Convert business goals into structured research plans, managing timelines and resources
- Mentor and lead scientists, supporting performance and development
- Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, including customers and internal teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally (commercial, regulatory, operations) for product scale-up and launch
- Identify innovation opportunities and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Partner closely with sales and marketing to align technical progress with business needs
Key Requirements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry (focus on carbohydrate synthesis) + 2-4 years relevant experience
- Strong hands-on lab experience with deep technical expertise
- Proven leadership or influence in managing scientific teams
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Knowledge of IP, regulatory frameworks, and product development
- Track record of publications with industrial relevance preferred
- Bonus: experience setting up labs and preparing CAPEX proposals
