Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Mechanical engineering team in day-to-day operations.
- Review, approve, and advise on project design standards, methodologies, and deliverables to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and schedule.
- Monitor and report on discipline progress (man-hours, schedules, deliverables).
- Lead preparation and review of machinery calculations, specifications, vendor drawings, 2D SLD/DLD designs, 3D models, and production/site drawings.
- Resolve complex technical issues and provide direction to Section Leads and Project Engineers.
- Coordinate with shipyards, consultants, vendors, and Class societies on technical matters.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and ensuring team capability development.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, standards, and tools.
- Responsible to the Mechanical Technical Lead / Department Head.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in mechanical/machinery newbuilding design within the marine/offshore industry.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Familiar with AutoCAD / MS Office / AVEVA and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong understanding of Class rules and statutory requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of machinery, piping, and HVAC design and integration.
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong teamworking spirit and ability to mentor and develop engineers.
