Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of rotating machinery and packaged mechanical systems for large-scale industrial projects. This position works closely with engineering disciplines, project teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle while providing leadership to a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering activities for rotating machinery and packaged mechanical systems throughout project execution.
- Develop and review engineering deliverables, including technical specifications, equipment data sheets, requisitions, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of mechanical systems within overall plant design.
- Support equipment procurement by participating in technical evaluations, supplier discussions, and documentation reviews.
- Review supplier engineering submissions to verify compliance with project requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensure engineering work aligns with recognised industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Participate in equipment inspections, factory testing, site activities, commissioning, and start-up support where required.
- Provide technical expertise during installation and commissioning, including resolving engineering and equipment-related issues.
- Work closely with internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers to address technical matters throughout project execution.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards within the team.
- Assist with proposal and tender activities by supporting equipment take-offs, technical reviews, and budget estimates.
- Be available for occasional travel to project sites or overseas locations when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Around 8–10 years of relevant experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions for industrial process facilities, with significant exposure to rotating machinery and packaged equipment.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering activities on complex EPC or design-and-build projects.
- Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Good knowledge of internationally recognised engineering standards and mechanical design practices.
- Experience in equipment specification, technical evaluation, supplier coordination, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience within the energy, process, petrochemical, offshore, or heavy industrial sectors will be advantageous.
