Job Description
The Lead Mechanic / Team Head will take full ownership of the mechanical health and operational readiness of a diverse fleet across two companies. You are a master of the craft who leads from the front-spending 90% of your time on-site troubleshooting and repairing, and 10% managing the logistics of the workshop. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Lead a team of mechanics on the ground to perform complex repairs, overhauls, and preventive maintenance. You are expected to be as hands-on as your team, setting the gold standard for technical execution.
- Excavator & Heavy Plant Specialist: Act as the primary technical expert for our fleet of excavators (including full overhauls), crushing machines, forklifts, and heavy lorries.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Rapidly identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures to minimize equipment downtime in our fast-paced recycling and waste environment.
- Parts & Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement of spare parts, manage relationships with suppliers, and ensure the workshop is stocked with essential consumables for 100% mission readiness.
- Team Coordination & Safety: Plan daily maintenance schedules for the team, ensure work is distributed efficiently across the two companies, and uphold strict safety standards on the factory floor and yard.
- Equipment Lifecycle Management: Proactively identify wear-and-tear and implement robust maintenance SOPs to extend the lifespan of our industrial crushing machines and heavy vehicles.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of heavy machinery repair experience, with a proven track record in excavator overhauls and complex troubleshooting.
- Technical Know-How: Deep expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and the specific mechanical requirements of crushing plants and heavy lorries.
- Leadership: Strong ability to lead a technical team by example. You must be able to give direct instructions and work collaboratively in the grease with your mechanics.
- Operational Mindset: We value a fix-it attitude. You should be a proactive leader who prefers being on the factory floor/site rather than behind a desk.
- Organizational Skills: Capable of managing parts ordering, vendor coordination, and basic maintenance logging with high accuracy.
What We Offer
- Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary package commensurate with your technical expertise and leadership experience in heavy machinery.
- Career Impact: A critical leadership role where your technical decisions directly impact the operational success of a major environmental group.
- Innovative & Sustainable Environment: Work within a group at the forefront of sustainable waste management and industrial recycling in Singapore.
- Supportive Culture: A collaborative environment that values street-smart engineering and fosters development for dedicated, hands-on professionals.
